About Me

Where do I start without boring you? Throughout my working life I have been involved in communications in one shape or form, including going back to the good old days in the forces using Morse Code (shows the age a bit). I have spent the last 28 years working for two companies, the first of these was a commodity broker called Boustead Commodities where I spent 6 years working on their telex systems and eventually the communications dealing system which was the first of the Touch Screen systems provided by BT

I eventually joined a small company called Sogemin Metals as the Communications manager. I was tasked with bringing the companies outdated systems into the present which was no easy task as I had no staff below me. from this point on I never really looked back as I was then involved in IT systems such as taking the company from stand alone PCs into networking technology, backup systems and storage systems with a mid range IBM AS400 thrown in. In 2002 I took up the challenge to obtain a Masters Degree in Information Technology from the University of Liverpool which was 3 years hard work.

Sogemin was finally bought by Natexis Banque Populaire which was the turning point for the company as the staff increased and the politics set in and we were no longer the small commodity trading company. After 3 locations and a merger with another French Banque called IXIS the staff level was up to 450 – Then the Credit Crunch was followed by redundancy. I originally formed Ytel Ltd purely to allow me to take up contract work but after 6 months, hundreds of applications and 2 replies I finally decided to take the plunge and go it alone. During my time job hunting I also turned my attentions to getting qualified as a project manager and achieved the Prince2 accreditation.

Ytel Limited is a consultant company offering services within Telecoms and IT for start up businesses and SMEs, hence the slogan on the web site "From Startup to Maturity". The approach of Ytel is to offer a more personal and solely independent view to the supply of Telecom and IT services. We will not be the quick sell company of which there are many, we will not tie you into long term contracts. We want to look after your business as we would our own

Over the years I have demanded the highest level of service from the companies I have dealt with and expect all my customers to demand the same high level of service from me. I have instilled into Ytel the exact same expectations for my customers.

Services

Through our consultancy service we can offer and supply project management of the following

• Telephone Systems and Maintenance. We can supply and install any size pbx at exceptionally good prices along with maintenance by system qualified engineers.
• Voice Recording Systems for just about any switch
• Telephone call rates for landlines and mobiles. We will be more than competitive against all the major telecom providers. Also, if you are unhappy with your present third party provider we will be more than happy to quote.
• Hosted Telephony. This option is for the business that does not want the expenditure of purchasing a pbx or the startup company. The benefit of this option is that as you grow and have to relocate you will not lose your numbers if you fall outside of your exchange area.
• Infrastructure Cabling. Complete infrastructure cabling service, from new floors, buildings or just an instance of recabling. This is provided with full certification.
• IT Services.
• Network Security (Through a Government qualified third party) penetration testing is a particularly skilled task and there are very few fully qualified companies to undertake this task. We enlist one of these companies to provide such a service.
• Project Management. Throughout any of our installs we project manage from start to completion. Ytel can also offer project management individually for your own implementations based on the Prince2 methodology.

The Future

I want to build Ytel Ltd into a company that cares and looks after small businesses. Since starting the company I have come across some businesses that have been persuaded to take out contracts with suppliers that are long term and not all that is promised. I want Ytel to be the company that new businesses and SMEs can turn to, to ensure that they really get the service delivered that they are paying for, whether it is supplied through us or a supplier of the customer's choice.

I also want to be able to provide telecom services to IT companies that do not have a telecom arm and would like to be able to offer the service as an addition to their standard portfolio.
