Stephen Huntley was born in the West Country. He is the eldest of 5 children and grew up in a village just outside Barnstaple, North Devon. Stephen went to the local secondary school where he left with no qualifications. He then entered further education at a local college to allow him to go on to do his first degree which he completed in Kingston, Surrey.

Stephen's first degree was in Economics and he has gone on to achieve a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, a Masters Degree in Organisational Behaviour, Qualifying Examinations of the British Psychological Society as well as becoming a Chartered Psychologist, a Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development, a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Association for Counselling at Work. He is also qualified to administer and interpret various psychometric instruments.

He lived in the Kingston area for the next 16 years before moving to Milton Keynes in 1988 to take up a job position. His career took him briefly to Cheltenham and then back to Milton Keynes in 1993.

Stephen spent 11 years as an academic economist, most of which was spent as a senior lecturer. Although Stephen enjoyed lecturing and developing his knowledge and skills, after 10 years he began to look for something more stretching and decided to retrain as an occupational psychologist. There was no in-service training at the time so Stephen took a sabbatical to gain his Masters Degree. Stephen worked for BT in their Occupational Psychology Section of Training and Development before going to Eagle Star to fill the Management Development role. He eventually left Eagle Star and established Stephen Huntley Associates in 1991, to concentrate on consulting projects in performance and in selection and to deliver training solutions in a variety of management techniques.

Stephen has worked in Defence, Health Care, Manufacturing (Both Motor and Aircraft), Banking, Paper manufacturing, Hygiene Products, Broadcasting and News Media in many countries including Germany, Belgium, Holland, Poland and in the United States as well as the UK.

His first success was two days after setting up Stephen Huntley Associates when he was asked to facilitate a strategy meeting between a newly developed executive agency and a major international telecoms supplier. In the early days of his business challenges centred on finding sufficient time to meet the demands of his rapidly growing client portfolio but Stephen overcame these by developing various operating procedures relevant to the different types of organizations he deals with.

Stephen now works with any type of client, who may need his services from large multinationals, both in the UK and overseas, to smaller organizations in the UK. He specializes in solving organizational problems in the areas of performance management and selection, and also designs and facilitates management training packages.

Here is a flavor of just some of the work Stephen has personally been responsible for:

• Designed a graduate intake selection process for a major international bank.
• Designed a director selection process for the UK's international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities
• Designed a director assessment for an NHS trust
• Designed director, manager and supervisor selection processes for a motor manufacturer and for an aircraft manufacturer
• Produced competence profiling as basis for performance management for an international telecoms operator
• Designed and delivered training to a major UK newspaper printer and a top Swedish paper manufacturer
• Designed and delivered training to graduates with a British international newspaper, sales managers with giant Swedish health care company, three UK motor manufacturers and a leading UK pan-university manufacturing research facility

Stephen Huntley Associates have no fixed processes or products to sell, everything is designed in a bespoke fashion to fit the specific needs of their clients which means they can use their expertise to supply the service that their clients need whilst keeping cost down to a minimum. Stephen Huntley Associates are organized in such a way as to keep head count very low, networking with known, trained and reliable consultants when they need to. They do not run expensive city centre offices but they do meet their client's needs – Every Time!
